Data Engineering

Implementation of the necessary architecture for the development of a BI area in a bank

The challenge

An important bank required the implementation of the necessary architecture for the development of its business intelligence area.

It needed to develop efficient and reliable data models for data consumption, in order to reduce reporting and decision making times.

Three main fronts were determined to be worked on during the development of the project after completion of the diagnostic study

The strategy

Strategic role of the area

Interviews were conducted along with case studies to understand the strategic role.

Implementation of new software

Opportunities and threats presented by the implementation of new management and analytical software were analyzed.

Information flows and requirements

Survey of all reports to be delivered by the area, their data sources, periodicity and contents.

Available data sources

Survey of all available data sources and tools.

EFFICIENT AND RELIABLE DATA MODELS

Implementation of new software, creating database schemas and protocols to ensure stability, scalability and accessibility.

REDUCE REPORTING TIMES

Migration of manual data treatment processes to ETL tools and enrichment of the information delivered with a greater number of data sources.

AVAILABILITY OF INFORMATION

Implementation of BI tools that avoid the use of Excel, creating platforms for direct company-wide access to real-time data.

The achievements

The main achievements of the implementation were:

SAP BODS and SAP HANA were used to create the data model.

Developing efficient and reliable data models for data consumption

SAP Lumira was implemented for the creation of reports.

Decrease reporting times, increase levels of detail and segmentation of reports

SAP Fiori was used to share information across the organization.
